Established in 1873 to help the Miner’s families. Donation Day Parade was founded with children marching through Grass Valley with a stick of wood and a potato as a donation for people in need. Grass Valley Ladies Relief Society, or GVLRS, organized the collection and distribution of items.
Today nearly 1,000 children from local Nevada County schools march with can goods in the annual parade each December.
To help provide basic needs and improve the health and well being of Nevada County residents with emphasis on seniors, young adults and children.
